Unfortunately, the Sharks & Hammers Squad can’t represent at this as Brand and I are in NYC to play at the Rub, Fatt is at his cousins wedding in PEI, Sumiko is out of town, Speakerbruiser Rob has another commitment and Shay has to work her other job – but we know this will still be a dope night so go out, support the other shops, yell and have fun!

” During rehearsal for July 9th’s Skratch Bastid Presents: LET’S BUILD w/ Cosmo Baker, Cosmo and I were playing the new Cam’Ron & Vado heatrock “Speakin’ In Tongues” and Cos started chopping up different parts of the beat, flipping it inna dancehall stylee. We threw Cutty Ranks’ immortal “Limb By Limb” acapella over top of it and it and instantly smoke filled the room and an airhorn sounded from the distance. Magical. We performed it live at the show to a great response. Here is a studio remix of the cut, so that you can mash up the party wherever you play it, be it desktop, poolside or club. Check it:

“Here it is! The Soul Chop Tape.
In these days and times of over-produced songs, I really wanted to make something that was more about feeling than technical value. While digging for records in Montreal, I challenged myself to make a raw mix by just cutting up samples. Since I’m only using these soul records to make the song- no added sounds or effects- it creates a feeling of chopping live like a DJ at a party with an MC backing him up. But in this case, the MCs I’m working with are Bun B, T.I., De La Soul, Lil Wayne, Method Man, Redman, Q-Tip and other A-listers. Peep the tracklist and you’ll get the picture.
