” During rehearsal for July 9th’s Skratch Bastid Presents: LET’S BUILD w/ Cosmo Baker, Cosmo and I were playing the new Cam’Ron & Vado heatrock “Speakin’ In Tongues” and Cos started chopping up different parts of the beat, flipping it inna dancehall stylee. We threw Cutty Ranks’ immortal “Limb By Limb” acapella over top of it and it and instantly smoke filled the room and an airhorn sounded from the distance. Magical. We performed it live at the show to a great response. Here is a studio remix of the cut, so that you can mash up the party wherever you play it, be it desktop, poolside or club. Check it:

Really like the original of this song but thought it needed drums so I could play it out. Loved Kenny Meez’s Bussa Wine 2010 Refix so I used the same Schooly D drums. The result garners mixed opinions and I’m fine with that. Some think that the drums and the piano clash a little but I like it. You can decide for yourself.
Southern country raps are my favoriteand the best place to stay up to date with it is at Burn One‘s BLVD STREET. He just posted a 10 new rappers to watch list which is a great place for the uninformed to start getting informed.
This my shit. Eli come correct in the same party break vein as Spread Love, Zulu War Chant and Puerto Rico. If that means anything to you the grab the AIFF of his Heavenly Break via the Helsinki homie DJ Anonymous.
Last month I was in Vancouver and was going through some new joints and came across the Go Off track… The beat to me was asking for cuts on it… I had been kickin it with my homies Hedspin and Marvel and thought, yo we should do a quick cut track over this beat … So I chopped up the beat and sequenced it to 8-bars / hook and so forth… After we started messing with it we thought it would be dope to get a couple other people on this… So I reached out to a few people and so did my canadian comrades… Within two days I had a Dream Team of DJs on board… At that point I figured I might as well make it an even 12 DJs. Was a good number for a DJ track… Then finally on my last stop of the Canada tour I did a show with Scratch (from the Roots) in Saskatoon. I told him about the track and he was down to lay his beatbox/cuts on the intro … Icing on the cake… This track is a throwback to the good ol days when cuts were encouraged and praised. The Roster of DJs is as official as it gets… (R.I.P. Roc Raida) – Jayceeoh
